5th Annual ConnerStrong Foundation Golf Tournament

We invite you to join us for the 5th Annual ConnerStrong Foundation Golf Tournament, at Westfields Golf Club on Monday, June 7, 2021.

Please come out and join us at our annual event. Started in 2017 as a tribute to Conner Worosz, the game of golf was a way to raise funds to support our mission about mental health awareness and suicide prevention while enjoying the game that Conner was passionate about.

Over the past years, this annual event has brought the community together to bring awareness to this issue and raise funds to support our school-based program as well as our outreach services to support those suffering a loss.

In light of the continued public health concerns surrounding COVID-19, we will be following the guidelines dictated by the Virginia Dept. of Health. As well, Westfields Golf Club is a Marriott property and follows the guidelines set forth by the Virginia Dept. of Health and government officials.

Like last year, the tournament event may look different, but our mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide remains strong. We are a strong, resilient, and caring community, united in our effort to fight suicide, raise awareness about mental health, educate, and support those who struggling or who have lost loved ones.

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States, taking more than 47,000. In Virginia, suicide is the second leading cause of death for ages 15 – 34, and the third leading cause of death for children ages 10 – 14. However, there is hope - suicide is preventable!

While the statistics for suicide are startling & scary, we know that through our families, communities, and corporations, we can change this. Together, with our families, communities, and corporate supporters, we can affect change, remove the stigma and bring hope, healing, and understanding to mental health.

A major effort is to bring our teen peer program, Sources of Strength into more schools. Currently, we have 6 schools in the county that have implemented the program. We are targeting another 8+ schools in 2021. Our teen program is nationally recognized and is run by the students, giving them ownership to shape the changes in their respective schools. Sources of Strength promotes positive coping skills, resiliency, and the tools to build a strong support network and healthy behaviors.
